Egger v Zywiec
Well, I have missed a couple of games on here, including the very entertaining water bath that was last night’s Turkey v Switzerland game.
The second half is just about to get underway on this one, and the question remains - how on earth are Austria one goal down? They could have been 3 up after 15 mins. Then got hit by sucker punch and a goal which was offside (or at least should have been...
Marathon v Nils Oscar Imperial Stout
Sat down for another live one - can not imagine it being a classic, but who knows.
Greece of course are the holders. No one gave them a chance last time, and even less rate their chances this time - although the bookies rate them a better bet than the Swedes (just). It is a game that had draw written all over it.
Bright start by the Swedes.
Half way through first half and not a lot between the...
San Miguel Especial v Baltika 3
We all know how good the Spanish team looks on paper, the question is not if they have the talent, but if they will self destruct and flatter to deceive as they have done in so many big tournaments before.
I’m sat watching this thinking that it is very much like last nights game, the flair and sweet movement is certainly coming from Spain, but Russia (going forward at least) have looked...
Grolsch v Peroni Nastro
OK, now this was more like it. Cracking first half, and cracking second goal - first one miles offside. But Italy were pretty good too and couild, perhaps should have had at least one.
Second half was always going to struggle to match the first, but Italy gave it a go.
Not many beers are as freshing as Peroni, but it is quite excitable and whilst Grolsh is a bit old hat, it is still one of the...
Kronenbourg v Silva
Ok, I admit i missed the first half of this one, but if the second half was anthing to go by that was no loss. A lackluster French performance and Romania almost nicked it.
Now maybe absense makes the heart grow fonder is winning out over the familiarity here, but Sila is a meaty dark ber that packs a punch, one that on this occassion knocks out the Kronnie.
Tyskie v Erdinger Weissbrau
History: You could say that there is still a bit of that between these teams. The second world war still plays big, especially with the Poles, which might explain why the English seem to have adopted the Poles. The bets are already on for the first ‘plumber’ mention by a commentator. [for those outside of the Uk and London, we have had a big influx of Poles, who have come and, in areas...
Egger v Ozujsko
It is the time of the other co-hosts: Austria. It is safe to say over the last couple of years they really have not been able to kick there own arse on the football pitch, and have come into this tournament as kicking boys - probably not expexted to win a game.
This is a view that would have been hard to argue with during the first 20 minutes when it looked like this would be a ‘how...
Super Bock v Efes Dark
Portugal were the hosts last time around and came cropper against Greece. They the recovered and made it to the final, only to lose once again to Greece.
Portugal fancy their chances of going one better this time around so they wanted to make sure of getting off to a good start this time around. Turkey had no intention of being push overs and when they had the ball were keen to get forward, and...
Feldschlösschen v Staropramen
That tricky opening match honour went to co-hosts Switzerland v the Czech Republic. The Czechs were certainly the pre-match favourites, and they came out 1-0 winners; but none of the other teams in the tournament would haved been shaking in their boots after watching the performance.
In truth the Switz keeper only had one thing to do and that was take the ball out of the back of his net. His...

Euro 2008 - it begins
I have decided that I need another pointless blog, and the thought of doing one that fitted in with Euro 2008 seemed ideal. What will follow over the next month will be my random thoughts on the games, the stars, and anything else that really takes my fancy.
As I need to be out with the girlfriend today, I’m having to V+ the first two games to watch later, so don’t expect any insight...
