San Miguel Especial v Baltika 3
We all know how good the Spanish team looks on paper, the question is not if they have the talent, but if they will self destruct and flatter to deceive as they have doneĀ in so many big tournaments before.
I’m sat watching this thinking that it is very much like last nights game, the flair and sweet movement is certainly coming from Spain, but Russia (going forward at least) have looked useful and have certainly had some chances to score.
David Villa has just bagged his hat-trick. Has taken all three of his goals well. Amazingly, he could have had more.
GOAL! Hurrah, a consolation goal for the Russians, but with only 4 mins left, it is almost certainly, as comentator jonathan pierce just said ’ too little, too late’.
Final minute and Spain add a 4th.
Battle of the Beers: I like San Miquel (as long as it is not that neutered, brewed under licence in the uk version), although its malty sweetness can be a bit much at times. Baltika 3 is the main brew from this Russian outfit. Like its Spanish opposition it has some hops on the nose, but mostly malt on the palate. Really very drinkable.[ As a side note, baltika’s porter is splendid stuff, which they may need to bring out for the final group game against the Swedes]. Despite the Russian brew correctly forcasting the amount of Goals Russia would loose by, it still does enough in the modern beer game to earn a draw.
